The first point of contact for screening for diabetes mellitus in Botswana will be the local clinics or private surgeries. In Botswana, there is a clinic within the 5 km radius in towns, cities and villages. Specialized diabetes care can be accessed through our primary and district hospitals around Botswana eg Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital, Maun; Scottish Livingstone Hospital, Molepolole; Mahalapye District Hospital, Mahalapye; Sekgoma II Memorial Hospital, Serowe; Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital, Francistown; Princess Marina Hospital, Gaborone; Athlone Hospital, Lobatse; Bamalete Lutheran Hospital, Ramotswa; Kanye Seventh Day Hospital, Kanye; Ghanzi District Hospital, Ghanzi, Deborah Retief Memorial Hospital, Mochudi; Selibe Phikwe Hospital, Selibe Phikwe; Palapye Primary Hospital, Palapye; etc. We also have diabetes centres of excellence in Block 6 Clinic in Gaborone and Donga Clinic in Francistown. There is specialized clinic in children with diabetes and other hormonal disorders at Princess Marina Hospital.
